I’m taking a writing course focused on blogging. It is incredibly interesting in some ways that I did not predict.
 1. I really really like trying to write an interesting blog. It’s a terribly interesting challenging trying to figure out my “voice”. Who am I? How do I want to come across? How much am I going to share?
2. Comparing myself with others. There are 7 others in the class plus a teacher. Each of us appears to have an enormous amount to say although to begin, we each admitted that we didn’t think we had anything to say that we felt would be interesting to other people. But, the aspects of our life that we talk about are astoundingly diverse.
3. Online learning. Although I talk about and work on this all day, this is my first experience with a teacher-led group online experience. I’m surprised by how much I feel like I’ve bonded with the others despite the physical and other differences between us (for instance, I’m the only guy in the course). We had our first chat session online the other evening and I was really amazed how much I enjoyed it.
4. The quality of the blogs. With just a little prodding and help (including graphics), take a look at the amazing blogs that have emerged from the class.Â
